A momentum for the internationalization of China's auto industry
NAC and the Export-Import Bank of China Signing a Funding Agreement
On 13th September, during the visit of the Chinese government delegation in the UK, Nanjing Automobile (Group) Corporation (NAC) and the Export-Import Bank of China signed a funding agreement which is aimed to support the undertaking of NAC’s UK business and its implementation of global strategy.
Following NAC’s successful acquisition of the assets of MG Rover Group Limited and Powertrain Limited on 22nd July 2005, the project of NAC MG has been approved by the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission.
As the essence of its ongoing global strategy, NAC is now committed to construct two production bases in Pukou, Nanjing, China and Longbridge, Birmingham, the UK, to explore the home and global markets and to create a real independent international brand by enhancing its own R&D capability based on the introduction, absorbing and grasping of the advanced technologies.
In fact, NAC is going to resume the production of MG models jointly with international strategic investors with MG TF and MG ZT as the initial products to be launched. At the same time, an automotive R & D centre will be created within the NAC UK production base by making full use of the R & D facilities it acquired and by introducing the UK R & D talents it needs. NAC UK project is a critical part of NAC and NAC MG’s global strategy. With the integration of the China and UK projects, NAC would like to see a good interaction between the two locations, which will enable a maximized integration in terms of brands, sourcing channels, sales networks and human resources etc., thus transforming the comparative advantages of different markets into the competitive advantages prevailing all over the global automotive market.
It is also believed that this project will be a representation of the win-win cooperation between China and the UK, from which, more benefits can be expected for the people from both nations. (End)
