Depuis le 26 décembre 2007, le groupe Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) a pris sous son contrôle Nanjing Automobile Compagny (NAC) qui avait racheté le 22 juillet 2005 le "MG ROVER GROUP" après la mise en administration judiciaire suite à la faillite de "Phoenix Four" (2000-2005). Une nouvelle ère semble commencer avec la fusion des deux constructeurs chinois, les actifs du groupe sont réunis (les droits sur les modèles ROVER 25 et 75, l'usine de Longbridge notamment), sauf la marque ROVER qui est désormais liée à LAND ROVER.

J'étais justement en train de lire un article éco à ce sujet. C'est certainement la nouvelle la plus intéressante des 30 dernier mois sur l'avenir de MGR.

J'étais justement en train de lire un article éco à ce sujet. C'est certainement la nouvelle la plus intéressante des 30 dernier mois sur l'avenir de MGR.
Il est clair que la "done" change, le site de Longbridge a toutes les chances de voir de nouveaux modèles produits en volume important. La tâche des chinois ne va pas être facile, il leur faut rétablir des marques qui ont subi l'effet de la faillite : la confiance est à retrouver avec une vision à long terme. Les finances florissantes de la SAIC et leurs ambitions internationales devraient leur permettre de réaliser certains projets en Europe, reste à espérer qu'ils sauront proposer des modèles alliant modernité et esprit britannique pour ce qui concerne les marques en leur possession : MG, AUSTIN. Le Phoenix va bien renaître, mais on ne sait pas encore sous quelles formes, mise à part la MG TF (planifiée en 2006 par Nanjing Automobile). La SAIC a les dents longues et leur gestion est d'une redoutable efficacité pour le moment.

SAIC absorbe Nanjing Automotive. La Chine veut faire émerger des constructeurs rivalisant avec les occidentaux.

Deux constructeurs chinois viennent de finaliser leur fusion, donnant naissance au numéro un chinois du secteur. Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) a mis 210 millions d'euros sur la table et offert 4,9 % de son capital pour racheter Nanjing Automotive Corporation. Les deux sociétés se connaissent bien pour avoir été en concurrence directe sur des dossiers sensibles. En 2005, SAIC s'était ainsi vu ravir le rachat de MG Rover, alors en faillite en Grande-Bretagne, par un « petit » concurrent. Le shanghaïen avait pourtant déjà acquis, l'année précédente, les licences de deux véhicules du constructeur britannique.
Aujourd'hui, le camouflet est oublié. La transaction va permettre à SAIC de prendre pleinement possession de tous les actifs de MG Rover, en Chine ainsi qu'en Grande-Bretagne, asseyant sa position de n° 1 de l'automobile chinoise (en prenant tous ses partenariats en compte). De son côté, Nanjing Automotive bénéficiera d'un réseau de distribution bien plus large qu'actuellement. Le rapprochement des deux constructeurs intervient dans un contexte de consolidation du secteur qui devrait permettre à la Chine de se doter de voitures 100 % chinoises, selon les bons vœux de Pékin.
Deuxième marché mondial de la planète avec 4,58 millions de voitures vendues sur les neuf premiers mois de l'année, l'empire du Milieu est encore largement dominé par des marques étrangères, toutes implantées en partenariat avec des sociétés chinoises, conformément à la législation. Sur les dix premières ventes du marché, seules trois sont enregistrées par des constructeurs chinois en propre, des sociétés mixtes sino-étrangères se partagent le reste du gâteau. Dans ce paysage, SAIC, 440 000 vendus au premier semestre 2007, a fait les bons choix puisque Shanghai General Motors et Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive sont respectivement n° 1 et n° 2 du secteur. Ces partenariats ont notamment permis au chinois de combler son retard en matière de recherche et développement.
Mais les autorités chinoises veulent siniser au maximum ce marché bien trop étranger à leur goût et cette stratégie a déjà porté ses fruits. Chery s'est propulsé en quelques années à peine à la troisième place du secteur et des constructeurs d'État. First Auto Works, Dongfeng ou Guangzhou Auto sont également poussés par les autorités pour lancer leur propre marque.
Deux marques en portefeuille
La nouvelle entité créée par la fusion possède déjà deux marques : Roewe et MG, dont les modèles ont été dessinés à partir des licences acquises auprès de l'ex-MG Rover. Certaines voitures sont d'ailleurs concurrentes, puisque issues des mêmes modèles de base. Mais la direction de SAIC a affirmé sa volonté de repositionner chacune des marques de façon à ne pas les mettre en concurrence directe l'une se concentrera sur le moyen de gamme, l'autre sur le haut de gamme.
La question reste de savoir ce qu'il adviendra des partenariats établis par les constructeurs avec des étrangers, sur lesquels SAIC se fait encore très discret. Nanjing a, quant à lui, déjà annoncé le rachat des parts détenues par Fiat dans une de ses sociétés mixtes. Le constructeur italien doit reconsidérer son déploiement dans le pays.

Normalement, comme tu le sais, TATA devrait prendre possession de la marque ROVER avec LAND ROVER et JAGUAR, et les indiens ont vraisemblablement des projets pour la marque ROVER. Il peut y avoir des surprises, mais logiquement la marque ROVER devrait rester liée dans l'immédiat à LAND ROVER , FORD l'avait achetée à BMW pour 6 millions de £ justement pour empêcher les chinois de mettre la main dessus. On ne peut pas tout à fait exclure une collaboration entre SAIC/TATA mais cela reste peu vraisemblable, les deux groupes ont suffisamment de moyens et leur croissance mutuelle en fait des rivaux.

Oui FORD peut conserver la marque ROVER mais rien n' indique actuellement qu'ils vont le faire : leur logique actuelle est plutôt de se débarasser des marques anglaises en leur possession. On peut imaginer que les indiens négocient la marque ROVER qu'ils jugent nécessaire de sécuriser avec LAND ROVER pour qu'elles ne tombent pas dans les mains des chinois. Cela on le saura dans les semaines qui viendront, on peut encore avoir des surprises. Les indiens de TATA sont déjà fortement implantées au Royaume-Uni, ils ont leurs caisses pleines d'argent et leur ingénieurs sont d'un haut niveau avec l'esprit inventif : la marque ROVER est d'un grand intérêt pour eux afin de se développer en Europe, car leur propre marque n'évoque pas une histoire aussi riche que celle de ROVER.

- plus de 11 millions d'euros en produit brut

Shanghai (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - Shanghai Automobile Industry Corporation (SAIC) (SSX:600104) plans to invest 8.5 billion yuan (US$1.2 billion) in overhauling Nanjing Automobile Corporation (NAC) in the next three years and enabling the latter to have a yearly capacity of 500,000 units by 2012, according to the Beijing News.
The paper quoted sources close to SAIC saying that the Nanjing carmaker's capacity will increase from current 100,000 units per year to 500,000 units in 2012, or 200,000 units of MG, 250,000 units of commercial vehicles and 150,000 units of Fiats in a breakdown.

FIAT VEND SA PARTICIPATION DANS NANJING AUTOMOTIVE

A la suite de la fusion de SAIC avec Nanjing Automotive (voir la revue de presse du 2/1/08), Fiat a décidé de dissoudre la société conjointe qu’il avait créée avec Nanjing dans les voitures. Fiat a indiqué qu’il souhaitait renforcer sa position sur le marché chinois et restructurer son activité commerciale dans le pays. Le groupe italien souligne toutefois que les accords de coopération avec Nanjing dans le domaine des véhicules utilitaires étaient maintenus. (EL MUNDO, LA GACETA DE LOS NEGOCIOS 27/12/07)

Il y a les marques NAVECO et IVECO sur le site de la NAC(je ne sais pas quelle est la différence), qu'il faut distinguer de YUEJIN à mon avis puisque cette dernière se veut une marque vraiment chinoise.
Je pense que la coopération NANJING/FIAT porte sur les modèles utilitaires IVECO et ils vont poursuivre la production des différents modèles avec FIAT, ces modèles qui apparaissent sur ce lien sur le site de Nanjing Automobile (NAC) :http://www.naveco.com.cn/ivecowebsite/english/index2.html (http://www.naveco.com.cn/ivecowebsite/english/index2.html)
La SAIC va injecter de l'argent pour les projets qui concernent MG, notamment l'objectif de production qui est de 200 000 unités à l'usine chinoise. On attend toujours des chiffres de ventes précis qui concernent les modèles MG 7. Sinon la fusion avec la SAIC va conduire MG à une implantation et un développement sur le marché coréen, selon les dirigeants de la SAIC qui possède 51% du coréen SSangyong (http://www.ssangyong.fr/pages/accueil.html (http://www.ssangyong.fr/pages/accueil.html)) et qui dispose déjà d'un réseau dans ce pays.

BEIJING, 9 janvier (Xinhua) -- La Shanghai Automobile Industry Corporation (SAIC) de Chine a vendu plus de 1,69 million de véhicules motorisés en 2007, une progression de 25,8% sur un an, a annoncé mercredi la compagnie.
Ce chiffre a placé la compagnie basée à Shanghai, qui a une joint-venture avec l'allemand Volkswagen et une autre avec l'américain General Motors, premier parmi les constructeurs automobiles chinois.
Les ventes totales de la compagnie de Shanghai cotée en Bourse comprennent 1,14 million de véhicules de tourisme (+24,3%), selon la même source.
Shanghai GM a vendu l'année dernière plus de 500 000 véhicules, devenant ainsi le plus grand constructeur de véhicules de tourisme du pays. Shanghai Volkswagen a vendu plus 456 000 unités, un record historique.
En mars dernier, SAIC Motor a introduit un modèle de luxe sous sa propre marque, Roewe, qui a battu un record de ventes de plus de 16 000 unités en 2007.
SAIC Motor a aussi vendu l'année dernière 553 000 véhicules utilitaires, en hausse de 29%.

Information intéressante qui concerne notamment le groupe SAIC MOTOR :
Johnson Controls-Saft fournira des batteries pour les chinois SAIC et Chery
DETROIT - Le groupe d'équipements automobiles Johnson Controls a annoncé qu'il allait fournir deux constructeurs chinois en batteries de nouvelle génération, mardi à l'occasion du salon automobile de Detroit.
L'entreprise commune Johnson Controls-Saft fournira au plus important constructeur chinois SAIC des batteries lithium-ion destinée à une flotte de démonstration de véhicules fonctionnant aux énergies nouvelles, a indiqué le groupe dans un communiqué.
Ces batteries, produites à Milwaukee (Etats-Unis), équiperont les voitures dès le début de cette année.
Johnson Controls-Saft sera d'autre part le fournisseur du constructeur chinois Chery en systèmes de batteries hybrides, de type Ni-MH (nickel métal hydride). Ces batteries seront montées sur une version à propulsion hybride de la berline Chery A5 ISG qui sera lancée dans la seconde moitié de 2008.
Ces batteries seront fabriquées en France, développées aux Etats-Unis et montées en Chine.

JOHNSON CONTROLS A PRESENTE UNE BATTERIE LITHIUM-ION A DETROIT

Johnson Controls a présenté au Salon de Detroit le prototype d’une batterie lithium-ion destinée à équiper des véhicules hybrides essence-électricité rechargeables. La batterie serait plus légère, plus petite et éventuellement moins chère que les batteries nickel-métal-hydrure actuellement disponibles pour les véhicules hybrides rechargeables, a déclaré une responsable de l’entreprise, qui est le premier fabricant mondial de batteries. Elle pourrait être mise en fabrication en 2010.
Johnson Controls développe des batteries lithium-ion pour un consortium public-privé qui comprend les trois grands constructeurs américains. Il travaille également sur cette technique avec Daimler. SHANGHAI, Jan 16 (Reuters) - SAIC Motor Corp (600104.SS: Quote, Profile, Research), China's largest car maker, estimated on Wednesday that net profit more than tripled last year.
In 2006, SAIC posted a net profit of 1.42 billion yuan ($196 million), and recorded a net profit of 3.88 billion yuan for the first nine months of last year, up from 884 million yuan a year earlier.
Last year's profit was boosted by SAIC's purchase of major production assets from its parent group in November 2006, including stakes in manufacturing ventures with General Motors Corp. (GM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Volkswagen AG (VOWG.DE: Quote, Profile, Research).
SAIC also cited aggressive sales efforts and its development of own-brand cars as reasons for the jump in profit.

Les chiffres officiels de ventes viennent d'être publiés sur le site chinois auto.sina.com . Le total pour 2007 en ce qui concerne ROEWE et MG en Chine :
- ROEWE (SAIC) 750 : 17 000 unités vendues (ce chiffre est approximatif ), la ROEWE 750 est en tête des modèles doté d'un moteur V6
- MG (NAC) : 3131 (volume plutôt faible pour la MG 7 depuis sa commercialisation fin août 2007, mais l'objectif de MG était la qualité et non la quantité dit-on...)

SHANGHAI, Jan 23, 2008 (SinoCast China Transportation Watch via COMTEX) -- SAIUF | news | PowerRating | PR Charts -- Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (Group) (SAIC) is scheduled to launch SW, a model in MG 3 Series, after the Chinese Spring Festival in February.
The model will be the first new product the Chinese auto giant releases after marrying Nanjing Automobile (Group) Corp. It indicates that the MG brand will grow rapidly since the marriage began.
SW has been in the spotlight after it debut at the Guangzhou auto show in November 2007. "We will bring out 1.4- and 1.8-liter products shortly after this Spring Festival," a MG executive showed great confidence.
MG 3 Series, priced between CNY 80,000 and CNY 120,000, will be a major force in the MG family, related people disclosed at the show. The SW is predicted to reach the ceiling of the brand's price range and compete head-to-head with medium- and high-grade small-sized two-compartment products as well as CrossPolo by Shanghai Volkswagen.
The SW, a two-compartment car with a British heritage, will cast its eye mainly to young drivers in cities. It features individuality and urbanized SUV functions.
1.4-liter SW will be equipped with the MG N Series all- aluminum engine and import 5-speed manual gearbox, whose power will reach 76 kilowatts, the highest of its kind.
1.8-liter CVT (continuously variable transmission) SW, with a wheelbase of 2.5 meters, will be installed with German's ZF 6- speed automatic gearbox.
Besides, MG TF sports cars, whose debut was delayed in 2007, will hit the market within this year, and more products in MG 7 Series, including automatic transmission and longer manual transmission versions, will come out.
In fact, only a MG model hit the market in 2007. The upcoming array of MG products shows that SAIC has attached great importance to the MG brand and that the brand will stand at the high end in diversified car markets, said analysts.
The MG brand will extend its sales network to the UK and Europe when expanding rapidly domestically. The number of MG 4S (spare parts, sales, after-sales service and survey) stores totaled 70 in 2007, and the number will jump to 40 this year and further to 150 in 2009, excluding upgraded stores in the brand's secondary networks.
In overseas markets, 58 MG 4S stores have signed related agreements.
Within the upcoming five to ten years, SAIC plans to raise the production and sales of MG cars to 300,000 units and those of the Roewe brand, another independent brand under its wing, to 500,000 to 600,000 units.
The auto giant, located in the eastern metropolis Shanghai, is set to inject CNY 8.5 billion into Nanjing Automobile in the following three years.

D'aspect extérieur, je trouve la Roewe 750 plus moderne que les MG7 et Rover 75 (même en MK2). La design du cul est beaucoup plus réussi.
Par contre niveau intérieur y'a pas photo, Roewe a chié dans la colle. Les garnitures de porte sont râtées de chez râtées. La boite à gants moins fonctionnelle. Le plafonnier a pris 10 ans d'âge :ddr: La ligne générale du tableau de bord n'est pas mal, mais donne l'impression d'un tout plastique :bof:

SHANGHAI - Shanghai Automobile Industry Corp (SAIC) a nommé un haut responsable de la gestion de SAIC- Nanjing Automobile, afin de renforcer l'entreprise et la mettre sous le contrôle plus strict de la SAIC.
Chen Zhi Xin a été nommé directeur général de Nanjing Automobile Corp , il était auparavant vice-président de SAIC. Auparavant, Chen Zhi Xin gérait Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive, une joint-venture 50-50 entre Volkswagen et SAIC.
La MG division est maintenant sous le contrôle du directeur général Huang Ke Ji. Il était auparavant directeur général de Shanghai GM Dongyue Motors. Shanghai GM Dongyue est une coentreprise entre General Motors et SAIC.
"SAIC assure le renforcement du contrôle de Nanjing Auto en nommant M. Chen et M. Huang», déclare John Zeng, Senior Market Analyst, Asian Automotive Research, Global Insight.
SAIC continue à développer la marque MG à sa base de Nanjing Nanjing Automobile, SAIC étant le leadership. La compagnie lancera trois voitures MG cette année.
Lu Qiang, porte-parole de Nanjing MG dit: "MG 3SW (break) sera lancée après le festival du printemps."
Le lancement de la MG 3SW sera suivi par le lancement du roadster MG TF. Une troisième voiture MG, MG3 berline familiale sera lancé plus tard cette année, selon Lu Qiang.
Roewe, MG resteront séparés
Au titre de la gestion des SAIC, MG et Roewe continueront d'être produites en deux marques, dit un délégué qui a refusé d'être nommé.
Une quatrième voiture, basée sur la série MG 5, commencera son développement.
SAIC et MG permettront à la fois de développer des voitures sur la plate-forme de la SAIC W261. SAIC développera la Roewe 550. MG développera la MG 5.
Les médias locaux rapportent que les deux voitures se partageront r & d, les achats et la planification des opérations.
Bien que SAIC a nommé à la haute direction de Nanjing, le nom officiel de Nanjing Automobile Corp, n'a pas été modifié, affirme l'exécutif. L'exécutif a également fait observer qu'il n'ya pas d'autres grands changements de direction sont attendus.
Le Longbridge, en Angleterre, plante va continuer de travailler sur les voitures MG, à commencer par le TF lancer plus tard cette année.
Dans une précédente interview, Chen Hong, président de SAIC, a déclaré: "Les entreprises britanniques SAIC deviendra la nouvelle plate-forme pour les marchés étrangers et une fenêtre de SAIC vers l'Europe."
De nouveaux modèles pour l'Europe
Chen explique que la production de modèles MG à Longbridge débutera bientôt. Dans les plans de SAIC il y a de nouveaux modèles MG pour l'Europe, dit-il.

En 2007, la Roewe 750 avait des ventes totales de 16549, se méritant ainsi un segment part de 2 pour cent. Le MG 7 a un total des ventes de 3131 unités d'après les données de Automotive Resources Asia.
SAIC va également transférer une production du best-seller de Santana 3000, fabriqué par Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive, à l'usine de Nanjing Fiat.
"La dernière version de Santana sera produit dans l'usine à partir de Nanjing Fiat en mai prochain", déclare un responsable de la Nanjing Jiangning Economic & Technological Development Zone, où l'ancienne usine de Nanjing Fiat est située.

Le groupe allemand KARMANN est actuellement en fâcheuse posture, les modèles sur lesquels il travaille arrivent en fin de vie : l'AUDI A4 convertible, puis en 2009 le MERCEDES CLK. KARMANN SE LANCE DANS LES VEHICULES HYBRIDES ET ELECTRIQUES

Karmann et Eco-Craft ont signé le 4 février un accord de coopération en vue du développement de véhicules utilitaires légers hybrides et électriques, qui seront notamment destinés aux municipalités et aux entreprises. Les modèles disposeront d’un moteur à essence ou diesel. La production, qui commencera en février, devrait atteindre 500 unités cette année, et 800 à 1 000 en 2009. Par ailleurs, la SUDDEUTSCHE ZEITUNG (2 et 3/2/08) signale que, suite aux nombreux échecs qu’il a essuyés en Europe, Karmann serait en négociation avec SAIC pour le développement de véhicules mais non pour leur assemblage, ce qui ne sauverait vraisemblablement pas les emplois menacés sur le site d’Osnabrück.

Karmann is in talks with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. about a future development project, Automotive News Europe has learned.
Karmann officials met with SAIC representatives at Karmann's factory in Osnabrück, northern Germany last week.
A Karmann spokesman said that the contract manufacturer and SAIC only spoke about a development project and not a production deal.
" The group of 10 high-ranking delegates visited our facilities to explore our development capacities," a company spokesman said. " This visit does not mean we will get a production contract."
The spokesman said that the SAIC delegation also plans to meet with other European contract manufacturers.
SAIC occupies part of the former MG Rover factory in Longbridge, central England, and is currently deciding which models to assemble at the plant.
The Chinese carmaker could bring its cars to Europe, but needs to re-engineer them to meet European customer needs.
SAIC has an engineering center next to engineering consultancy Ricardo in Leamington, central England. The center could move to Longbridge after SAIC completed the takeover of Nanjing Automobile Corp.
Karmann would not say which models they spoke to SAIC about and when a decision will be made.
Karmann ended production of the Chrysler Crossfire last December. The German contract manufacturer will stop production of the Audi A4 convertible this autumn and the Mercedes-Benz CLK class in 2009.
Karmann's dilemma reflects the depressed state of Europe's contract manufacturing business. Many automakers have taken back production of niche vehicles leaving contract manufacturers such as Heuliez, Bertone and Karmann struggling to find replacement business.

MG-Rover fell from automotive grace when its life was ultimately extinguished in 2005, NAC and SAIC picked up the pieces, NAC took Longbridge and the MG brand, SAIC took the rights to the 25, and 75 models. SAIC takes the Rover 75 and makes the rather nice Roewe 750, only to buy the whole of NAC (and MG) later anyway. SAIC officials let loose their plans for the two brands today, they plan on keeping MG as a sports brand, and Roewe as a more business class type of brand.
Both brands, MG and Roewe are planning to launch cars this year. Roewe is planning to launch the Roewe 550 (possibly the worst Chinese secret car) and the Roewe 750 1.8t. MG plan on launching an MG7 Automatic (this will do wonders for their sales), the MG 3 Streetwise, and the MGTF. The Roewe 550 is expected to be a luxury compact car, but priced competively against the Skoda Octavia, VW Sagitar (Jetta), and Ford Focus type models. Officials from MG also mentioned that within 2 to 3 years, MG will launch a high class MINI type vehicle to compete with BMWs offering, China Car Times hopes that it MG might actually do a better job than BMW and their massive, yet claustrophobic, MINI.
Roewe hopes to launch the 750, 550, and a mysterious smaller car named the Roewe 350. China Car Times can only guess that the smaller model numbers indicate that Roewe might actually have a stab at making something in the small car/compact range - bigger than the MG3, but smaller than the Roewe 550? We cant wait to see it. Its also rumored that the Roewe 750 could eventually be smothered out and be replaced by future generation cars named 751/752 etc.

L'avant de la Toyota Land Cruiser, la calandre et le bouclier du Honda CRV, le profil et les feux arrière du 4x4 X5 de BMW, dont la fabrication a été arrêtée en 2006, enfin la planche de bord de la Lexus GX470… Voilà à quoi ressemble le 4x4 CEO de Shanghuan Automobile, qui sera bientôt commercialisé en France.
Après les vêtements de luxe, les jeux vidéos, les médicaments… les constructeurs chinois copient aussi les voitures. Lors du dernier salon automobile de Francfort, en septembre 2007, BMW avait porté plainte pour faire interdire la vente du CEO en Allemagne, où il devait être commercialisé. "Ce n'est pas un plagiat. Le CEO s'inspire de designs européens et japonais", s'était alors défendu Karl Schlossl, le président de China Automobile, l'importateur du CEO.
L'UFO, un autre 4x4 du constructeur Jonway, qui était aussi présenté à Francfort, ressemble, lui, à s'y méprendre au Rav 4, le 4x4 vedette du japonais Toyota.
Daimler, propriétaire de la marque Mercedes, avait réussi à dissuader China Automobile de présenter la Noble, une petite voiture plagiant, selon le constructeur allemand, la Smart Fortwo. Il faut dire que l'affaire était remontée jusqu'à Angela Merkel. En voyage officiel en Chine, la chancelière allemande avait déclaré : "Il n'est pas bon qu'une copie chinoise de la petite urbaine soit présente au salon de Francfort." Du coup, en Europe, personne n'a pu voir la Noble. "Une vraie quatre places, contrairement à la Fortwo qui n'en compte que deux", souligne M. Schlossl, défendant ainsi son client d'avoir plagié "à 100 % la Smart".
Shanghuan n'est pas le seul à copier des modèles Occidentaux. La liste est longue. Ainsi, la Roewe 750 de Saic est l'incarnation de la Rover 75 ! Il est vrai que Saic avait racheté en toute légalité en 2006 à BMW l'emblème frappé d'un drakkar de MG Rover. De son côté, le constructeur Byd (build your dreams – construit tes rêves…) a, lui, fait un mix entre une Mercedes et une Renault pour sortir de ses chaînes de montage la Byd F8. Pour sa F6, il s'est inspiré de BMW, de Buick et de Subaru et pour sa F3 de la Toyota Corolla avec des feux arrière d'une Honda City. Quant au logo, Byd ne s'est pas embarrassé, c'est carrément celui de BMW !

Les constructeurs européens se rebiffent
Selon le magazine Automotive News Europe, plusieurs marques européennes ont entamé des démarches judiciaires contre leurs concurrents chinois. BMW a porté plainte en septembre devant le tribunal de Munich contre China Automobile Deutschland, importateur agréé de la 4x4 CEO de Shuanghuan. L'italien Fiat a déposé des plaintes en Italie et en Chine pour empêcher l'arrivée en Europe de la Peri du groupe Great Wall Motor, jumelle de la Panda. L'allemand Daimler aurait entamé des démarches judiciaires pour faire bloquer la vente de la Noble, copie de la Smart.

Cette journaliste pourrait être excusée par rapport à la complexité de l'évolution des marques MG, ROVER et ROEWE, mais quand on tient une rubrique comme celle d'un journal aussi important que Le Monde on doit faire preuve de beaucoup plus de rigueur en vérifiant très précisément les informations : SAIC n'a jamais acheté en 2006"l'emblème frappé d'un drakkar MG ROVER", tout au plus SAIC a été en négociation avec BMW en 2006, maintenant on peut dire que la SAIC en absorbant Nanjing Automobile possède certains badges issus des "actifs MG ROVER" mais sans le nom ROVER qui apparient à LAND ROVER ou à celui qui l'achètera dans l'avenir, depuis que FORD a acheté le nom pour sécuriser LAND ROVER en 2007.
D'autre part , présenter la ROEWE 750 comme une simple contrefaçon de la ROVER 75, c'est oublier que la SAIC a acheté les droits sur la ROVER 75 et que la ROEWE 750 a subi des évolutions esthétiques et techniques en passant par les mains des ingénieurs de RICARDO 2010 (UK).
Dans l'avenir il est probable qu'on ne puisse pas du tout confondre ROEWE et ROVER, à partir du moment où TATA MOTORS présentera sur le marché européen des modèles avec le badge ROVER, produits et dessinés sur le sol anglais, et associés à la marque LAND ROVER . Si c'est le cas (selon une rumeur fondée sur différentes sources) , les chinois ont intérêt à réserver le nom ROEWE au marché chinois, et encore... les indiens pourraient très bien vendre des modèles ROVER sur le sol chinois...la marque ROEWE sera vraisemblablement dépréciée.

Après les manques de moyens investis en Europe par la NAC (les efforts ont été délibérément centrés sur la production en Chine), il semble que les choses soient ralenties à cause de la fusion SAIC/NAC : la SAIC est en train de tout remettre à plat sur le long terme. L'accord entre les chinois a été signé fin décembre 2007 mais ils leur faut plus de 100 jours pour se restructurer, cela nous conduit au mois d'avril, donc peut-être qu'en mai-juin (ou alors juillet-août mais alors pourquoi produire la MG TF ?)il y aurait une reprise importante d'activité à l'usine de Longbridge. Pour l'instant c'est le silence radio de la SAIC, il devrait normalement faciliter le plan de Nanjing qui était de produire l'ancienne MG TF (STADCO en a reçu la commande), ensuite ils parlaient d'une nouvelle MG 7 (différente de celle qui est produite en Chine) puis d'une MG 5 (vraisemblablement pour 2009), il y a également la petite voiture en préparation qui pourrait porter le badge AUSTIN (à moins qu'ils ne préfèrent qu'elle porte le badge MG).
Le site de Longbridge, tel qu'il est actuellement loué par les chinois pour un bail de 33 ans, peut largement produire plus de 100 000 unités/an. Pour l'Europe il semble donc que les nouveautés MG ou AUSTIN susceptibles d'être intéressantes seraient pour 2009 voire 2010. On verra ce que la SAIC dira officiellement et réalisera effectivement, mais le groupe chinois, qui est en pleine expansion devrait faire parler de lui.
Parallèlement le groupe TATA MOTORS, s'il acquiert effectivement la marque ROVER, paraît davantage capable de relancer la marque ROVER, étant donnés les capitaux du groupe et les 3 usines anglaises qui vont être en sa possession, le Centre technique et de design, et tous les ingénieurs LAND ROVER et JAGUAR. Le groupe TATA est estimé à plus de 22 milliards de dollars US. Comme je l'ai déjà dit, il y aurait d'abord une ROVER préparée et dessinée par les anglais, à partir de la plateforme de la nouvelle Indica V3, puis d'autres modèles plus ambitieux (2010-2012)...

NANJING, Feb 25, 2008 (SinoCast China Transportation Watch via COMTEX) -- SAIUF | news | PowerRating | PR Charts -- Chinese automaker Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC) expects to close the acquisition of its domestic peer Nanjing Automobile Corp. (NAC) in April 2008.
The company entered into an agreement with Yuejin Motor Group, parent company of NAC, to acquire the latter's core auto assets at the end of December 2007.
The targeted assets include both the 100 percent stake Yuejin Motor owned in NAC Nanjing MG.
The vehicle assets and major auto parts assets will become a part of SAIC Motor Corp. Ltd. (SHSE: 600104), a listed arm of SAIC, and other auto parts assets and service & trade assets will be under the aegis of Donghua Co., Ltd., a 75-25 auto parts joint venture between SAIC and Yuejin Motor.
In order to complete the assets transfer smoothly, Yuejin Motor also made a series of internal share transfers.
It took over a total of 83.147 percent stake in NAC from four of the latter's shareholders for CNY 5.7383 billion, making NAC its 100 percent-owned subsidiary.
The four NAC shareholders are Yuejin Motor (Group) Corp., China Huarong Asset Management Corp., Jiangsu Guoxin Investment Group Ltd. and Jiangsu Communications Holdings Co., Ltd.
In the meantime, it purchased a 67.78 percent stake in Nanjing MG from five of the latter's shareholders for CNY 2.7 billion, making Nanjing MG its fully-owned subsidiary.
The five Nanjing MG shareholders are Nanjing Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Corp., Nanjing Hi-tech Economic Development Corp., Nanjing Pukou State-owned Assets Investment and Management Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Guoxin Investment Group Ltd. and Jiangsu Communications Holdings Co., Ltd.
After the acquisition of the core auto assets of Yuejin Motor, SAIC will own not only Roewe but also MG, the two Chinese proprietary brands.
The two brands will share not only the same production line but also the same R&D platform, which will bring an inside resource reorganization in SAIC, pointed out industry experts.
SAIC launched its first self-branded car, Roewe 750, in the second half of 2006 and NAC rolled out MG7, a five-seat, four- door sedan, in March 2007.
NAC acquired the MG, a closed plant in Longbridge, England, and Powertrain, the engine unit of collapsed British automaker MG Rover, for approximately GBP 53 million in July 2005.
SAIC bought the Rover 75 and 25 sedan technology as well as K-series engines from MG Rover for about GBP 67 million in 2004.
Therefore, Roewe sedan, based on Rover 75 technology, had been seen as a rival to NAC's MG7 series sedan.

En 2006 (22/02), St Modwen properties a signé avec Nanjing Automobile un bail de 33 ans, mais il y a une partie de l'usine qui a été restructurée, notamment "westworks" qui a été rasé pour devenir une zone dévolue aux commerces et bureaux (ils disent vouloir créer 10 000 emplois), ceci dit le site de l'usine reste considérable et offre un grand potentiel aux chinois.

Accord entre SAIC, Nanjing et Baosteel
SAIC Group, Baosteel Group, la société du groupe qui a lancé la semaine dernière dans les projets de coopération avec Nanjing, la réorganisation des équipements de Nanjing Die Limited. Selon l'accord, après l'achèvement de la réorganisation, le rapport entre SAIC et Baosteel sera un début, créant des coentreprises dans chacune des 35% de participation dans les sociétés du groupe représentant 30 pour cent du capital.

AROnline has just obtained an English language translation of a recent and revealing interview given by Dr. Gao Weimin, the Manager of SAIC Motor Corporation Limited’s (SAIC Motor’s) Technical Centres (and Chairman of SAIC Motor UK Technical Centre Limited), to a reporter from the Beijing Youth Daily.
Dr. Gao, who had a six-year stint as Deputy Manager of Pan Asia Automotive Technical Center Limited (a 50-50 JV between GM and SAIC Motor) before starting his present job, now has responsibility for managing SAIC Motor’s four Technical Centres at Nanjing and Shanghai in China, Leamington Spa in England and Pyungtaek in South Korea in addition to overseeing the implementation of a three year Future Product Programme based on six platforms, ten different engines and three separate transmissions.
SAIC Motor’s original intention was to develop a total of five platforms, for the following models, by 2010:
- a B segment supermini,
- a C segment, Roewe 550-based, series,
- a D segment, Roewe 750 derivative series,
- an E segment large car series and
- an SUV series.
However, Dr. Gao stated that, since the acquisition of MG, a sixth platform had been added to the Future Product Programme: ‘The sixth platform is a sportscar platform. The Roewe brand had no space for a sportscar, so the sportscar platform will go to MG.’
Dr. Gao also revealed that a total of ten new engines are to be rolled out over a five year period and that these will include all new families of 1.3- and 1.6-litre four cylinder, 2-litre and 2.4-litre four cylinder and 3-litre and 3.6-litre V6 cylinder petrol engines. Dr. Gao added that SAIC Motor are working on alternative powertrains using CNG and hybrid systems and that the company also has access to a range of diesel engines by virtue of a controlling stake in South Korea’s SsangYong Motor Company.
SAIC Motor’s Technical Centres are also developing three new transmissions. Dr. Gao added that: ‘We’re designing gearboxes according to the size of the engines. We’re working on a six speed manual with a range from 200nm to 400nm. Automatic gearboxes are also being developed.’ The Beijing Youth Daily article claims that the range of engines and gearboxes are expected to be put into production by early next year.
Dr. Gao also told the Beijing Youth Daily’s interviewer about the future division of responsibility between SAIC Motor’s Technical Centres. The Technical Centre in Shanghai’s main focus will be on the development of the Roewe brand and the design of flagship models. However, following the integration of the Nanjing-based Technical Team, the Shanghai Technical Centre will also assume responsibility for the MG platforms. SsangYong’s Technical Centre will concentrate on designing cars to meet the specific needs of the South Korean market while the European Development Team, based at SAIC Motor UK Technical Centre Limited’s premises at Leamington Spa in England, will be working primarily on cutting-edge technologies and their initial application to SAIC Motor’s new products.
The Beijing Youth Daily’s reporter also discussed the ‘brand positioning struggle between the MG and the Roewe brands’ with Dr. Gao who indicated that NAC MG and SAIC Motor had completed a joint appraisal of the respective brands’ attributes and had now clearly mapped out their positioning. Dr. Gao specifically confirmed that MG will be a sports brand and that the MG range will be targeted at consumers who appreciate a sportscar.
Dr. Gao added that: ‘Introducing a brand that no one has any connection to would not be a great idea – to persuade people to buy a car from a new brand would need a lot of time and, more importantly, a lot of money. Now with MG, we can take that brand global. No matter whether the cars are made overseas, or merely sold overseas, we will sell them under the MG brand.’ He also confirmed that SAIC Motor UK Technical Centre Limited will be responsible for the design and development of all the MG models based on the six platforms mentioned above and intended for sale in Britain and Europe.
AROnline’s own, independent, research indicates that the Beijing Youth Daily’s article accurately represents SAIC Motor’s overall strategy for the MG brand. However, certain elements of the projected timetable might yet prove to be a tad optimistic because the specific details of the MG Brand Development Strategy and Future Product Programme have still to be finalised.
Interestingly, SAIC Motor UK Technical Centre Limited was awarded the Chinese Inward Investor of the Year Award at last month’s KPMG China Business Awards 2008 Dinner in London. Dr. Gao, the company’s Chairman, was presented with the award by Lord Digby Jones of Birmingham, Minister of State for Trade. (See photo above)
AROnline reckons that the award provides some tangible evidence of SAIC Motor’s commitment to Britain as a base for the European relaunch of MG and that Dr. Gao’s remarks suggest that a degree of cautious optimism about the future of the famous marque might be justified.

Selon certaines sources (= plusieurs concessionnaires de Shanghai), les 2 versions de la 550 seront exposées au Salon automobile de Beijing en avril prochain.
Pour l'instant la version européenne (avec le badge MG) n'a toujours pas été dévoilée officiellement bien qu'un photoshop circule. Ils parlent d'une version européenne à presque 20 000 euros avec un moteur de 1.8T et les équipements au goût du jour : GPS et tout le reste (allumage des phares automatique, indicateur de pression des pneus etc..:

SAIC plans UK comeback for MG TF roadster

Shanghai Automotive (SAIC), China's largest locally-owned carmaker, is to resume production of the iconic MG TF roadster at its UK plant in July, according to its president.
With plans to resume MG production at its plant in Longbridge, the carmaker is also to consider exporting its own-brand, Chinese-made Roewe cars to Europe, Chen Hong told the Financial Times on Sunday.
In the wake of Tata Motors' recent purchase of Jaguar and Land Rover, the TF's relaunch is being followed by the industry as a test case for an Asian manufacturer's skill in managing a well-known European premium car brand.
SAIC, which merged with its smaller regional rival Nanjing Automobile (NAC) last year, intends to resume production of the TF at the end of this month in China, three months before its planned production date in the UK.
"We will try to launch production at the end of July and bring the car to market at the end of August," Mr Chen said.
MG has 55 dealers in the UK, and also plans to sell its roadster in Europe.
NAC bought the MG brand and its production assets in 2005, and shipped most of the plant to Nanjing. SAIC acquired the rights for some of the carmaker's models, which it renamed Roewe.
SAIC, which has joint ventures with General Motors and Volkswagen - China's two largest foreign carmakers - wants to build up its own brand to cash in on China's booming car market. Mr Chen said a possible launch of export sales into eastern and western Europe was being considered.
In a country in which carmakers are establishing themselves and fighting foreign brands for market share, SAIC touts its British ties.
Its stand this week at the Auto China show in Beijing was adorned with images of Tower Bridge, William Shakespeare, a red telephone booth and a teapot with cup of tea.
The TF model has a large fan base in Europe and the US, but has been off the market for three years in an industry characterised by rapid product improvements. Mr Chen said its pricing would be "competitive".

Les 2 modèles MG en préparation issus de cette plateforme( 1 modèle" berline" et 1 modèle " hatchback" plus court) auront des modifications esthétiques, reste à voir lesquelles...je me demande quelle genre de calandre ils vont proposer (sachant qu'ils préparent toute une gamme MG il doit y avoir une certaine cohérence pour l'ensemble de la gamme), et ce qui semble logique c'est qu'ils vont proposer un habitacle style MG. :wink:

Ils continuent à produire en Chine la MG 7 (en déclinants tous les designs puisqu'en Chine ces modèles étaient des nouveautés à leur lancement en 2006). Mais pour ce qui est de la production de l'usine de Longbridge, ils ont relancé les affaires avec la MG TF et ensuite ils ont planifié de vraies nouveautés : on ignore actuellement le type de design de ces modèles (sont-ils vraiment déjà fixés ? Probablement que non, si ces modèles apparaîtront au deuxième semestre 2010...) :wink:

Shanghai Automotive Group Co., Ltd. ( SAIC) is undertaking its second phase of brand project in Nanjing, capital of East China?s Jiangsu Province.
The project is being built with a total investment of 2.566 billion yuan, and expected for completion and operation in 2009. The Nanjing base will then form an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles and 250,000 engines.
The project includes the newly developed global A-class car platform, NSE series engines, which are developed for new cars and the adaptation transformation of the Nanjing base.
The A-class car platform is a basic technology-based platform, which will develop a series of models, including hatchback, sedan, small MPV and also a revamped mid-sized model based on MG, as SAIC's own-brand models for the global markets.

En revanche leur plan pour le marché européen pourrait être revu à la baisse ou différé, bien que 2010 puisse être l'année où l'économie mondiale sortira de la récession, or c'est l'année des nouveautés annoncées.

De façon évidente, l'important pour le Géant SAIC est de faire de son business une affaire rentable et si possible avec le plus de bénéfices possibles et cela dans la durée. Peu importe d'être le premier (comme cela fût le cas pour le géant américain General Motors il y a quelques temps mais maintenant au bord de la faillite). La marque MG sera la marque principale du groupe SAIC en Europe et cela serait déjà très bien s'ils arrivent à relancer de façon significative cette marque anglaise sans la dénaturer dans l'avenir. Pour ce qui est de Roewe elle devrait être une marque très secondaire en Europe. Quant à l'avenir de ROVER , la marque dépend à l'heure actuelle de Tata Motors et de l'image de marque de Land Rover, mais si jamais Rover est relancée par Tata, la marque Roewe va apparaître comme terne et sans intérêt pour les clients européens.
Le groupe SAIC n'a pas du tout la prétention d'être n°1 en Europe ("le mieux est l'ennemi du bien") mais de se tailler une bonne part dans le gâteau, et étant donné le travail réalisé sur leur site web, on sent que cela présage de leurs ambitions en Europe et des réalisations importantes dans les années à venir :

La SAIC est en discussion avec FORD pour acheter la marque VOLVO selon plusieurs sources.
Un porte parole de Ford a confirmé les pourparlés avec un groupe chinois sans vouloir nommer la SAIC... Ford possède VOLVO depuis 1999 mais est confronté à des difficultés financières importantes...Dongfeng, Tata Motors et Hyundai sont également en discussion avec Ford...à suivre.

Ford is in talks with the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, China's biggest car-maker, in a desperate attempt to sell its prestigious Volvo brand.

A source close to the American motor giant said it recently made a second approach to SAIC, which already owns the rights to the MG car marque. Earlier talks in the summer faltered over price.
Ford, which bought Volvo for £4.4bn in 1999, is said to be hoping the sale will fetch £4bn.
The disposal would send an important signal to the US Congress that Ford is taking major action to restructure its business in return for a massive cash injection.
'Now that Ford is in dire straits this would be a good opportunity for SAIC to snap up Volvo on the cheap,' said the source. 'The price has dropped considerably since seeking a sale in the summer.'
Ford, Chrysler and General Motors are begging for a government lifeline of £23.1bn amid harsh trading conditions. The US Congress will meet this week to evaluate the situation, with all three of the car giants' futures at stake.
Aaron Bragman, a car industry analyst with economic forecaster IHS Global Insight, said that though the companies had agreed to accept a significant measure of government control, including restructuring, any aid would not affect the sale of Volvo, which has 105 dealerships in the UK.
'The sale of Volvo has become part of the conditions of Government assistance,' he said.
A spokesman for Ford, which is being advised on the deal by financial services firm JPMorgan Chase, confirmed that the company was in talks with a Chinese car-maker, but declined to name SAIC. A source at SAIC declined to comment.
It is understood that Ford is also in talks with other potential bidders for Volvo, the last remaining brand in its premium auto group that had included Jaguar, Aston Martin and Land Rover.
The bidders could include Indian-based Tata Motors, China-based Dongfeng Motor Group and South Korea-based Hyundai Motor, as well as private equity firms such as Texas Pacific Group

lle s'appelle la F3DM et doit débouler sur les routes chinoises avant la fin de l'année : construite par BYD Auto, la première hybride chinoise produite en masse et vendue à un prix abordable sera, à la différence de la Prius de Toyota, une voiture électrique dotée d'un petit moteur à essence d'appoint, et non l'inverse.
Son succès, s'il se confirme, pourrait bien changer la donne sur la planète automobile. Car BYD, qui signifie "Build your Dreams" ("construisez vos rêves"), n'est pas, à l'origine, un constructeur automobile, mais le premier fabricant mondial de batteries électriques pour téléphone portable. En 2003, la société a racheté un constructeur automobile du Shaanxi, Qinchuan Auto, l'a rebaptisé BYD Auto, et en a fait en cinq ans, à coups d'investissements considérables, l'une des marques les plus dynamiques de cette fin 2008 en Chine, où le marché est pourtant lui aussi en train de s'essouffler : sa F3 (modèle à essence) a dépassé cet automne les 10 000 unités vendues par mois, et un autre modèle, la F0, se révèle très populaire. BYD Auto prévoit de vendre près de 200 000 véhicules à essence en 2008, deux fois plus que l'an dernier. Ce qui le place certes encore loin des plus gros constructeurs chinois, mais est prometteur : Wang Chuanfu, son patron, n'a-t-il pas annoncé en 2007 qu'il ferait de BYD Auto le numéro un chinois en 2015 et... dans le monde en 2025 ? Une telle ambition pourrait être prise à la légère mais, en septembre, Warren Buffett, l'investisseur aux doigts en or, a acquis 10 % de BYD Auto pour 230 millions de dollars via l'un de ses fonds, MidAmerican Energy Holdings. Cet apport d'argent frais doit être consacré au développement de la voiture électrique.
L'ascension de BYD Auto, qui prévoit d'exporter un modèle 100 % électrique de berline (la E6) en Norvège et en Israël dès 2009, indique que la voiture électrique est l'une des portes d'entrée qui pourraient permettre aux constructeurs chinois de s'imposer dans le monde. Avec ses milliers de chercheurs et des usines toutes neuves à Shenzhen, BYD Auto est bien placé pour bénéficier des dernières avancées de la technologie des batteries. Surtout, le gouvernement chinois a annoncé sa volonté de profiter du considérable potentiel du marché chinois (moins de 50 voitures pour 1 000 habitants contre 740 aux Etats-Unis) pour favoriser l'émergence de la voiture électrique grâce à toutes sortes de mesures et de normes.
Déjà, fait unique au monde, la quasi-totalité des deux-roues qui circulent dans les grandes villes chinoises est électrique. Un spécialiste du véhicule électrique, Wan Gang, a été nommé ministre des sciences et des technologies, et est chargé de mettre en oeuvre un vaste plan d'équipement en véhicules électriques et en station de recharge d'ici à 2010. Ancien d'Audi, formé en Allemagne, Wang Dan fut président de l'université de Tongji à Shanghaï, l'un des pôles pour la recherche en véhicule électrique, avant d'être nommé ministre.
Mais, comme avant eux les Coréens et les Japonais, les constructeurs chinois sont de plus en plus tentés de sortir de leurs frontières, et pas seulement avec des voitures électriques.
Les constructeurs du monde entier sont déjà quasiment tous présents en Chine au travers de coentreprises (joint-ventures) avec des sociétés d'Etat, dont les "trois grands" (FAW, SAIC et Dongfeng). Ainsi, SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) fabrique certains modèles de General Motors et de Volkswagen, tandis que PSA est marié à Dongfeng Motor. Mais en limitant la participation étrangère à 50 %, cette politique de co-entreprise a fait des constructeurs chinois des géants capables de se développer par eux-mêmes.
SAIC, n°1 des voitures particulières, a ainsi été le premier à se diversifier en rachetant l'anglais MG Rover et le coréen SsangYong. La Roewe 550, avatar chinois de la Rover de MG, vient ainsi de sortir de ses lignes de montage et sera produite à 150 000 exemplaires chaque année. D'abord pour le marché chinois, mais SAIC ne cache pas ses ambitions à l'export.
A terme, non seulement les plus grands constructeurs chinois devraient continuer à développer leurs propres modèles et à acquérir d'autres constructeurs étrangers et chinois, mais encore exporter de plus en plus sur le marché mondial. Paradoxalement, ce sont jusqu'à aujourd'hui les fabricants indépendants chinois (on en compte des dizaines) qui, moins bien placés face à la concurrence des entreprises d'Etat sur le marché chinois, ont cherché des débouchés sur les marchés extérieurs.
C'est le cas de Chery, première marque indépendante en 2007 et numéro 4 chinois, qui a exporté 120 000 véhicules en 2007 et a ouvert sa huitième usine en dehors de Chine, en Malaisie. Ces pionniers de l'export sont surtout présents sur les marchés émergents (Amérique du Sud, Russie et Asie). Ils tardent toutefois à percer sur les marchés américain et européen, en raison des normes de sécurité et de pollution qui y sont imposées. Crise oblige, ils risquent aussi de perdre l'avantage d'un prix inférieur à celui des modèles de leurs concurrents occidentaux, à l'heure où les invendus s'accumulent et où les concessionnaires cassent les prix.

Le constructeur automobile sud-coréen, Ssangyong Motor, vient de solliciter son placement sous administration judiciaire dans l'espoir d'éviter une faillite.
Coupé de ses crédits par les banques, le constructeur automobile sud-coréen, Ssangyong Motor, a annoncé ce vendredi avoir sollicité son placement sous administration judicaire. "Le conseil d'administration a décidé de solliciter un placement sous administration judiciaire pour faire face à la crise actuelle de liquidités et faire évoluer la société en une entité viable capable de générer de la croissance", selon un communiqué officiel de la société.
La Banque coréenne de développement (KDB) avait annoncé il y a deux semaines qu'elle n'accorderait plus de crédits au constructeur à moins que sa société mère chinoise ne lui accorde d'abord une aide. Principal créancier de Ssangyong, KDB a exigé que Shanghai Automotive Industry débloque un financement d'au moins 320 milliards de wons (180millions d'euros) d'aide d'urgence à Ssangyong avant de considérer l'octroi de nouveaux crédits.
Ssangyong, le plus petit constructeur automobile du pays acheté en 2004 par le chinois Shanghai Automotive, s'attend à des pertes nettes de plus de 100 milliards de wons (55 millions s'euros) pour 2008."Les pertes d'exploitation se sont creusées en raison de chutes importantes des ventes et des exportations dans un contexte de crise économique mondiale", ajoute le communiqué de Ssangyong. Et 2009 ne se présente pas mieux. Selon les projections de l'Association des constructeurs automobiles, les ventes de voitures devraient chuter de 8,7% en 2009 à 1,05 million d'unités, un plus bas niveau depuis dix ans.

SAIC va fusionner les réseaux de distribution de ses marques MG et Roewe afin de réduire ses coûts. Les divisions des ventes et du marketing de Nanjing MG ont en outre été transférées à Shanghaï et regroupées avec leurs homologues de Roewe, signale GASGOO.COM (9/2/09).

Selon certaines sources circulant dans les médias israëliens, la MG TF et la MG 550 devraient être exposées en Israël (au Salon Auto) au cours de ce premier trimestre, puis ces modèles seraient disponibles à la vente en Israël au troisième ou quatrième trimestre de 2009.

No, not MG and Rover.
There are rumours about of SAIC, owner of MG, and Proton, owner of Lotus since 1996, being in "seesaw-type" negotiations. It's early stages yet and nothing may come of it but even the mighty SAIC needs partners to compete in the international markets and having Proton as a partner does make some sense. For Proton, a new partner is looking essential for survival.
Proton's annual sales are less than 300 thousand per year while SAIC's exceed 1.7 million. Protons business plan is to treble its current sales by the year 2010, however with its current product line and the current economic conditions this is clearly unachievable. It is thought that Proton, being too small to be capable of developing competitive new platforms for itself, is considering using the MG/Roewe platforms and maybe engines for its own vehicles. Obviously talks are centred around Protons mainstream vehicles but could the K-Series engine make a return to the Lotus Elise, maybe in the form of the new 1.5Turbo NSE?
The talks actually started back in the year 2000 when Phoenix Venture Holdings, then owner of MG and Rover, began talks on using the Rover 75 platform in the development of a new Proton Perdana. The talks were shelved in 2005 when MG was bought by Nanjing Automotive but were soon restarted with the new owner of the Rover 75 platform, SAIC. Currently there is no official information on any possible plans, however information from inside Proton indicates that if things work out there is a possibility of an announcement around the time of, or soon after the Shanghai Auto Show.

FORTE HAUSSE DES VENTES DES MARQUES PROPRES A SAIC
Le groupe SAIC, partenaire de General Motors et de Volkswagen sur le marché chinois, a vu les ventes de ses marques MG et Roewe progresser de 300 % au premier trimestre, à 18 000 unités. Les objectifs de ventes cumulés des deux marques ont par ailleurs été fixés à 50 000 unités pour 2009, contre 36 000 l’an dernier, rappelle GASGOO.COM (20/4/09).

Oui... à part les plus de 5000 Roewe 550 vendues en un seul mois (potentiellement ils pourraient en vendre plus de 60 000 pour l'année 2009) , ils devraient faire exploser les ventes par rapport aux quelques 16 000 Roewe vendues l'année dernière. Pour le marché chinois cela n'a rien d'extraordinaire...Il faudra suivre le lancement de la MG 6 en Chine :D

La SAIC annonce le lieu de sa nouvelle usine à Shanghaï dans le district de Jiading, il s'agit d'une usine produisant des véhicules hybrides...
l'objectif annoncé est de 10 000 véhicules produits pour la fin 2010, puis jusqu'à 100 000 pour 2012, ce projet est soutenu par le gouvernement chinois.

The Shanghai New Energy Automobile company, created at the end of last year, has announced the location of it's new factory to be a 9.5 square kilometer area in the Jiading district of Shanghai. The Jiading district will vigorously promote the construction of the base and will provide support in the form of taxation benefits, government procurement of the product and will actively formulate a number of other supportive policies including a special fund of 1 billion yuan to support the development of its new energy automotive industry. For 2012 government procurement of public transport, commuter, postal services, sanitation etc will consist of at least 30% new energy vehicles.
It is expected that by 2010, the SAIC base will have an annual production of 10,000 new energy vehicles, by 2012 100,000 and by 2015 the base will be producing 300,000 new energy vehicles per year consisting of a mixture of hybrid and pure electric passenger cars. Shanghai Automotive Group is one of the leading automobile industry companies for the development of new energy sources.
Although SAIC will be the leading enterprise at the base, a number of other companies will also be located there including the Shanghai Electric Motor company and other related enterprises.

Pour les trois premiers trimestres, les ventes de véhicules de marque ROEWE s'élèvent à 64 000, le chiffre de 90 000 est attendu pour l'exercice 2009 soit une progression de 246,06 %.
Par ailleurs, les chiffres de ventes de véhicules produits par SAIC Motor (toutes marques confondues : VW, Buick, MG etc...) ont dépassé les 1,4 Millions d'unités (période des 3 trimestres 2009), l'objectif de 2 Millions d'unités vendues en 2010 pourrait être atteint. L'expansion se poursuit donc...A suivre !

Des sources chinoises affirment que le volume des ventes de Roewe et MG revient à celui de 2004 à l'époque de MG ROVER, mais la différence est de taille car le mouvement n'est pas celui du déclin, l'accroissement des ventes est de 180 %, faut dire qu'ils partaient de ZÉRO ou presque en 2008... :D

GUANGZHOU, Nov 23 (Reuters) - SAIC Motor Corp (600104.SS: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), China's biggest carmaker, expects to sell about 90,000 of its own-brand vehicles this year, nearly double the original target, its president said on Monday.
The company aimed to sell double that number in 2010, said Chen Hong, speaking to reporters at the Guangzhou Autoshow.
"I expect that the auto market will continue growing at a fairly rapid level," said Chen. "We are full of confidence for 2010."
Much of the company's growth has come from China's smaller cities, he added.
"This year, car sales in third- and fourth-tier cities have significantly outpaced the growth in first- and second-tier cities where a car is no longer a luxury item," said Chen.
Chen said the company forecasts sales of 2.65 million vehicles in total this year, adding that he expected the Chinese government to continue incentive policies to boost the auto market.
Many of those incentives, including reduced sales taxes on small cars and subsidies for buyers in rural areas, are set to expire this year.
China's automakers are increasingly focused on developing their own brands. In 2007 SAIC successfully launched a mid-range sedan line, the Roewe, developed on the basis of technologies acquired from defunct British car maker MG Rover. From January to June, sales of its own-brand Roewe and MG cars jumped 276 percent to more than 40,000.
To date, SAIC has sold its own-brand vehicles domestically, but Chairman Hu Maoyuan hasn't ruled out exporting Roewe cars to Europe or elsewhere eventually.
Chen said that in the company's next five year plan it would make more than 500,000 own-brand vehicles.
"We do not dare to say that we are very successful with our own-brand cars," he said. "This is a difficult path and there is lots of work to do."
Separately, the company, one of General Motor's [GM.UL] partners in China, also planned to begin producing the MG 6 in the UK by the end of 2010, said Chen.
SAIC become the owner of MG Rover's 10,000-unit Longbridge plant in Birmingham, central England after a merger with its much smaller peer Nanjing Automobile Group in late 2007.
The company's third quarter net profit jumped nine-fold to 2.53 billion yuan ($370.6 million), beating an average forecast of 2.16 billion yuan from 4 analysts polled by Reuters and versus 260.8 million yuan a year ago.
Analysts have been upbeat about the automaker's outlook for the full year and beyond, given robust auto demand and a low comparative base in 2008, when the automaker was bogged down by big write-offs for its loss-making South Korean subsidiary, Ssangyong Motor (003620.KS: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz).

SHANGHAI — China's largest car maker SAIC Motor Corp said Thursday its shares have been suspended from trading pending an announcement on a "major assets restructuring".
The company's board of directors will hold a meeting before next Wednesday to discuss the planned restructuring, SAIC said in a statement to the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
SAIC shares, which closed down 0.04 percent at 25.53 yuan (3.8 dollars) on Wednesday, will resume trading after the plan is announced, SAIC said, without elaborating.
The plan could relate to a change in the shareholding structure of SAIC's joint ventures, the official China Securities Journal reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources.
SAIC currently owns half of its joint ventures with US auto giant General Motors and German car maker Volkswagen.
It is also the controlling shareholder in SAIC-GM-Wuling, a commercial vehicle tie-up with General Motors and China's Liuzhou Wuling Automobile.
Officials at Shanghai-based SAIC Motor were not immediately available for comment

Le principal constructeur automobile chinois, SAIC Motor Corp, a annoncé jeudi un bénéfice net multiplié par dix en 2009, grâce aux mesures de soutien au secteur prises par le gouvernement de Pékin.
SAIC, partenaire notamment du géant américain General Motors et de l'allemand Volkswagen au sein de leurs coentreprises chinoises respectives, a réalisé des ventes de 6,6 milliards de yuans (966,3 millions de dollars) l'an passé, contre 656,2 millions de yuans, a indiqué le groupe dans un communiqué.
Le groupe chinois a vendu 2,72 millions de véhicules en 2009, en hausse de 57,2% sur l'année, avec un chiffre d'affaires en progression de 31,9% à 139,6 milliards de yuans.
Sa part de marché a progressé, pour atteindre 19,9% en 2009.
En 2008, le bénéfice de SAIC s'était en revanche effondré de 86%, à 656,2 millions de yuans en raison de la crise financière et de lourdes pertes du sud-coréen Ssangyong Motor, dont il est le premier actionnaire.
La Chine est désormais le premier marché automobile mondial.

SAIC Motor, numéro un chinois de l'automobile, a annoncé jeudi qu'il allait lever jusqu'à 10 milliards de yuans (1,2 milliard d'euros) par le biais d'un placement d'actions.
SAIC, qui dispose de coentreprises avec General Motors et Volkswagen, va émettre des actions nouvelles auprès d'investisseurs qu'il aura séléctionnés et dont le nombre n'excèdera pas dix, parmi lesquels figurera sa maison mère publique.
Les actions nouvelles seront émises à un prix unitaire d'au moins 11,47 yuans, soit avec une décote maximale de 4,8% par rapport à son dernier cours de Bourse. L'action avait clôturé à 12,05 yuans le 18 juin.

GASGOO.COM (24/6/10) signale que SAIC vient de produire la 10 000ème Roewe 350 sur son site de Nanjing. La cadence de production de l’usine s’élève actuellement à 6 000 véhicules par mois et devrait dépasser le seuil des 8 000 unités mensuelles (dont 7 300 Roewe 350) au mois de juillet. June 19 (Bloomberg) -- SAIC Motor Corp., China’s largest domestic carmaker, said trading in its Shanghai-listed shares will be halted June 21 pending an announcement about a share placement to be reviewed by its board within a week.
China, which surpassed the U.S. as the world’s largest vehicle market last year, is encouraging domestic automakers to develop their own brands and alternative-energy technology to compete with global rivals including Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Co. SAIC, which owns the British Rover and MG sports-car brands, debuted its E1 electric concept car at the Beijing auto show in April.
“Fundraising is of great importance to SAIC right now as it needs to develop next-generation models for its Roewe and MG brands,” John Zeng, a Shanghai-based analyst with IHS Global Insight, said in a phone interview today. “It is also in talks with General Motors to buy next-generation technology for the Buick LaCrosse and it needs money to build a plant in Wuxi after the LDV purchase in the U.K.”
MG Cars
SAIC re-branded Rover cars in China as Roewe after taking over the design rights in 2005. It plans to start making MG brand cars at its plant in the U.K. by the end of this year, spokeswoman Zhu Xiangjun said in January.
The company said in October it planned to buy equipment from LDV Group Ltd. and move some tooling to China after the U.K. vanmaker collapsed and was sold to Eco Concept Ltd.
The Shanghai-based company aims to sell more than 3 million vehicles this year, and achieve sales of 245 billion yuan ($36 billion) compared with 140 billion yuan in 2009, according to a filing to the Shanghai stock exchange on April 1. SAIC’s May sales rose 26 percent from a year earlier to 289,239 units, the automaker said on June 7.
Most of SAIC’s vehicles are made with its partners GM and VW. The company aims to sell 180,000 of its own brand vehicles this year, President Chen Hong said in March.
The automaker’s shares have dropped 40.1 percent to 12.05 yuan since the beginning of this year compared with a 23 percent decline in the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index. They fell 3.8 percent yesterday.

General Motors Co. will team up with its Chinese partner to develop powertrain technologies geared at making cars more fuel-efficient, as the global race to prepare for tougher fuel-economy requirements heats up.
The move aims to boost the fuel economy of small gasoline engines by tapping such technology as turbo-charging -- previously used to go faster -- to travel longer distances on the same amount of fuel.
To meet fuel-economy regulations that are expected to become tougher in markets around the world, "we need to continue to advance technology levels of engines and transmissions not just in China but around the world," Daniel Hancock, GM's vice president of global strategic product alliances said in a telephone interview with The Wall Street Journal Wednesday.
GM and SAIC Motor Corp. Wednesday signed an agreement in Shanghai to jointly develop a family of several high-tech small engines and advanced automatic transmissions.
"Together, we will continue to quickly provide our customers leading-edge technologies that improve vehicle fuel efficiency and deliver robust performance," said Tom Stephens, GM vice chairman of global product operations, in a statement.
The new small engines, whose efficiency will be enhanced by technologies such as turbo-charging and gasoline direct injection, should provide "up to 20%" gains in fuel economy over powertrain technologies available today, Mr. Hancock said.
Those technologies, to be made available in engines ranging from one liter to 1.5 liters, are to be deployed in cars "in a few years" in China as well as markets around the world where GM operates, he said.
The engineering work will be conducted in Detroit and at the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center, the two companies' joint venture engineering and design center in Shanghai, he said.
Mr. Hancock declined to elaborate further but noted that the new technologies are "all directed for the interest of [fuel] efficiency while still maintaining good vehicle performance."
The joint development is "significant" because it marks the first time when GM and SAIC – partners for more than a decade already – are going to develop "base" propulsion technology, going a step further than simply integrating existing engine and gearbox technologies into automobiles.
Mr. Hancock said the new technologies are necessary for the U.S. auto maker to meet more stringent fuel-economy requirements around the world. Those anticipated requirements are "definitely going to drive us toward coming up with more efficient propulsion systems and more efficient vehicles in the future," he said.
The joint GM-SAIC development program also could let GM close the gap that was opening with rivals in the development of fuel-efficient cars to deal with the prospect of tougher fuel-economy requirements in China. Ford Motor Co., for instance, is deploying a new family of high-tech engines called "Ecoboost" this year in the U.S. and later around the world.
The technologies, such as turbo-charging and gas direct-injection, that Ford have used to deliver up to 20% better fuel economy in "Ecoboost" engines are similar to those GM and SAIC say they plan to develop. Japan's Nissan Motor Co. has said it is working on similar technology. Ford is aiming to launch in China cars with "Ecoboost" engines late this year. By 2013, the Dearborn, Mich., auto maker is expected to be producing approximately 1.5 million "Ecoboost" engines globally.

SAIC va lancer dès la fin de 2010 la berline Roewe 550 sur le marché européen ; seule la version à essence sera disponible initialement, la version diesel est attendue à la fin de 2011 ou en 2012. Basée sur la plateforme raccourcie de la Rover 75, le modèle sera produit à Longbridge, au Royaume-Uni, et sera commercialisé en Europe sous la marque MG, selon des sources industrielles.
AUTOMOTIVE NEWS CHINA (5/9/10) rappelle que SAIC a écoulé 54 145 Roewe 550 et 11 413 MG6 en Chine au premier semestre.

The U.S. government, which now owns 61 percent of GM but is looking to reduce its stake to around 40 percent in the IPO, has said the company would seek foreign investment as well as investment from the U.S.
Foreign investment in U.S. automakers and other companies is common.
Investment from sovereign wealth funds is considered good for a company because the funds tend to hold stakes for a long time, providing stability, the newspaper said. But it's also a touchy issue for the Obama administration, especially if some individual investors in the U.S. are unable to buy shares in the IPO.
U.S. taxpayers gave GM $50 billion to get it through bankruptcy protection last year. The automaker has repaid or plans to repay $9.5 billion, and the government hopes to get the remaining $40 billion back through the IPO and several follow-up sales.
A final decision by SAIC could come in the next few days, according to the newspaper, which cited people familiar with the situation that it did not identify.
GM and its investment advisers plan to release the stock's final price on Wednesday. The actual sale will take place on Thursday. The U.S. government and GM's other owners are selling 365 million shares of common stock. The IPO target price is between $26 and $29 per share. In addition, GM is selling 60 million preferred shares for about $50 each. The preferred shares will pay a dividend of 5.5 to 6 percent per year, a person briefed on the matter told The Associated Press Friday.

DETROIT, 14 novembre (Reuters) - SAIC Motor Corp 600140.SS a conclu un accord de principe pour prendre une participation dans General Motors (GM) [GM.UL], mais cet accord reste suspendu à l'approbation des autorités chinoises pour cette transaction qui devrait renforcer les liens existants entre les deux groupes, a déclaré une personne proche du dossier.
Le gouvernement chinois doit donner son feu vert avant mercredi pour un investissement de SAIC lors du retour en Bourse (IPO) de GM, a précisé la source.
Le montant de l'investissement que pourrait réaliser le constructeur automobile chinois n'est toutefois pas encore certain. Les négociations entre les deux groupes ont porté sur un montant d'un milliard de dollars (731 millions d'euros), voire moins.
GM et SAIC n'étaient pas joignables dans l'immédiat pour faire un commentaire.

Pour la commercialisation en France, on ne sait encore rien du calendrier : ils ont parlé d'un nouveau moteur diesel (1.9) pour le deuxième semestre 2011 (fin d'année ?), ce qui pourrait correspondre au moment de la commercialisation de la MG 6 en Europe, mais rien n'est encore officiel, leur priorité est évidemment le marché chinois...le premier marché automobile dans le monde désormais.

SI déja la Mg6 venait à être importé en France, cela serait déja un bon début :) Personnellement, je préfère les petites voitures, question de gout.
Cependant, j'espère que les chinois penseront à nous, petits français roulant en renault #pendu

SAIC confirme l'achat de près de 1 % de GM
Dans un document remis à la SEC, le chinois a confirmé avoir pris pour 500 millions de dollars d'actions mises sur le marché par l'américain qui fait ce jeudi son retour en bourse.
Il avait prévenu qu'il avait l'intention d'entrer au capital de General Motors. A quelques heures du retour officiel de GM à Wall Street où le constructeur américain s'apprête à être de nouveau coté ce jeudi, le constructeur chinois SAIC a confirmé qu'il avait tenu sa promesse en s'emparant de près de 1 % des actions ordinaires mises sur le marché par GM .
Le constructeur chinois a acquis pour 15,15 millions d'actions au prix unitaires de 33 dollars, déboursant ainsi près de 500 millions de dollars pour entrer dans le capital de l'américain, avec lequel il possède déjà des sociétés conjointes en Chine et en Inde.
«Nos dix coentreprises avec SAIC sont à l'origine de certains des plus gros succès en Chine en matière automobile. La participation de SAIC dans GM à l'occasion de son introduction en Bourse représente une nouvelle étape clé dans notre partenariat», s'est félicité dans un communiqué, Tim Lee, président des opérations internationales chez General Motors dans la foulée de cette transaction conduite, par le biais d'une des filiales de SAIC, basée à Hong Kong et qui s'inscrit dans le cadre de ce qui s'annonce déjà comme l'une des plus grosses introductions en Bourse de l'histoire.
Le groupe américain, détenu essentiellement par le Trésor américain depuis son sauvetage par Washington, vient en effet d'émettre 478 millions d'actions ordinaires au prix unitaire de 33 dollars. De quoi déjà lever 15,8 millards de dollars. A cette somme s'ajoute 4,35 milliards de dollars d'actions préférentielles. Si l'option de surallocation est exercée dans sa totalité 23,1 milliards de dollars pourrait ainsi être levés au final, a reconnu GM dès mercredi soir . Soit, mieux que les 22,1 milliards de dollars levés en juillet dernier par un autre chinois : l'Agricultural Bank of China.

Tony Williams-Kenny a été nommé "Directeur du Design de SAIC Motor".
Il était déjà responsable du design pour MG (voir les MG 3, concept MG zero, MG 6...).
Il a débuté sa carrière chez Mitsubishi Europe à Trebur en Allemagne comme designer. Ensuite il a rejoint le "MG Rover Group" en 2000 comme "Design Manager", avant le rachat par SAIC.

Ce moteur 1,5 est le nouveau petit moteur, conçu par Ricardo et SAIC à Longbridge, développé par SAIC à Shanghai et construit par SAIC / NAC à Nanjing. Seule la transmission vient du Japon, et ils vont produire une nouvelle version pour la MG5, qui est également une conception du groupe constitué par les ingénieurs de la SAIC.

Ce moteur diesel est le remplaçant du Perkins 2 L, il faut se souvenir que les chinois ont pris possession de POWERTRAIN (motoriste ROVER) qu'ils ont transféré à Pukou, au moment où le le "ROVER GROUP" était en voie de fiabiliser le G série (nouveau moteur diesel common rail)...après, ils ont élaboré un plan pour produire toute une gamme de nouveau moteur, dont le NSE (New Small Engine)... et s'ils mettent autant de temps pour proposer un moteur Diesel sur la MG 6, c'est justement en raison de cette mise au point. On devrait voir le résultat pour 2012...

C'est pratiquement le principe du GSeries malheureusement qu'il n'a jamais vu le jour :( je pense que 160ch ca aurait ete pas mal :wink:

Y a 1ans y avait 2 prototypes a vendre sur ebay un en 1.9jtd qui c'est pas vendu tres cher mais celui en gseries c'est vendu limite plus cher qu'une v8
