"MGs to roll out of Longbridge again in April
NANJING AUTOMOBILE will commence production of MG cars at Longbridge within 3-months.
Manufacturing will start by April 7 the company said yesterday and revealed that the first two Birmingham-built test cars were finished last week. They are the first of 42 test vehicles to be built at Longbridge in the coming weeks.
A re-designed TF will go on sale in the UK from July. The old style, however, will be launched in China. The re-modelled version, with a new front end, will also go on sale in the Far East later this year. Hard top versions will follow in 2008.
: "Everything is totally under control, all of our plans are going according to schedule," said James Lin, operations director of Nanjing.
Initial production will run at around 3,000 vehicles in the first year, rising to 8,000 per year in 2008 and 12,000 by 2009. "
